Mier is situated adjacent to one of the world’s largest conservation areas, the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the Northern Cape in South Africa.
One of the greatest and biggest assets of Mier is the rich culture and history of its people. A variety of gastronomic foods and meals can be found here. From tripe to sheep heads, there is something here for everyone’s taste buds. Mier’s rich cultural heritage adds to its diverse range of meals.
One of the world’s most early and intriguing tribes, the Khomani San, own farms in the Mier area! These members produce and sell beautiful real San weapons such as bows and arrows, beads made out of the shell of ostrich eggs or bags made out of animal skins.
Mier is any hunter’s dream. In fact, Meir is made up of of over 30 000ha of game farms. These game farms offer hunting opportunities and even provide facilities for delicious biltong making. The services of trained hunting guides, field guides and tour guides can be obtained through the municipal offices.

Efforts are currently being made to extend the Kalahari East pipeline to Mier, to provide the much needed resource.
Mier offers plenty of room to play for 4×4 enthusiasts. There are fantastic 4×4 routes which stretch from Rietfontein to Pulai. The unique red sands of the Mier town are also very tempting. Various species of raptors as well as magnificent and ancient Gray Camel Thorn trees can be seen in this area. Mier is a large town boasting true cultural diversity and beauty.
